Scott’s Guide Terms of Use

Last updated: August 22, 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using the Scott’s Guide mobile application and/or website (“Scott’s Guide”, the “App”, or the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use Scott’s Guide.

2. Purpose of Scott’s Guide

Scott’s Guide is intended to serve as an organizational and informational tool to help users view and compare bullet specifications, maintain personal lists or libraries, and manage data they choose to store within the App.

Scott’s Guide is primarily an organizational and reference tool. While the App includes AI-powered features that may generate informational responses about reloading, these responses are not verified load data and must never be treated as authoritative safety information. The information presented in the App, including any AI-generated content, is not a substitute for:

Always follow manufacturer recommendations

You agree that you will always refer to and follow the official recommendations, load data, and safety guidance provided by component and firearm manufacturers, and by recognized reloading manuals. Any decisions you make regarding reloading, shooting, or related activities are your own and are made at your own risk.

3. No professional or safety advice

Information in Scott’s Guide is provided for general informational and organizational purposes only. It does not constitute professional, technical, or safety advice. You are solely responsible for verifying all data and for ensuring that any reloading or shooting activities you perform are safe and appropriate for your equipment and circumstances.

4. AI features and important safety disclaimers

4.1 AI Load Advisor

Scott's Guide includes an AI Load Advisor feature that uses artificial intelligence to provide informational responses about ammunition reloading. You acknowledge and agree that:

4.2 AI Product Identification

The AI Product Identification feature allows you to describe bullets or powders not found in our database. Your descriptions are processed by AI to identify the product. If a match is found in our existing database, the matching product is returned immediately. If no match is found, your description and the AI-identified product details are stored for review and may be added to our database. You agree not to submit any personally identifiable information, offensive content, or content unrelated to ammunition components through this feature.

4.3 AI usage restrictions

AI features are subject to fair-use rate limits to ensure service quality and availability for all users. We reserve the right to adjust these limits at any time.

You agree not to use the AI features to:

4.4 AI data handling

When you use AI features, your prompts and the AI-generated responses are stored for 30 days and then automatically deleted. Your prompts are transmitted to OpenAI for processing. For details, see our Privacy Policy.

5. Subscriptions and payments

5.1 Subscription plans

Scott's Guide offers the following auto-renewable subscription plans:

Prices may vary by region and are subject to change. The current price is always displayed in the App and on the App Store or Google Play before purchase.

5.2 Free trial

New users may be eligible for a 7-day free trial, which includes up to 5 AI queries. The trial period begins when you first sign in to the app. At the end of the trial period, you will need an active subscription to continue using the app. The free trial is limited to one per user account.

5.3 Billing and renewal

Subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID account via the App Store (iOS) or your Google account via Google Play (Android). Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.

5.4 Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings:

iOS:

Android:

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You will retain access to subscription features until your current period expires. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.

5.5 Access requirements

Scott's Guide requires an active subscription or free trial to access the app's features, including the bullet catalog, comparison tools, personal library, and AI features. A signed-in account is required for all functionality.

6. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for:

7. User accounts and data

To use certain features of Scott’s Guide, you may need to create an account or sign in using a supported authentication provider. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your account information up to date.

The App may store data that you choose to enter, such as saved bullets, favorites, library entries, and preferences. This data is stored so that it can be synced between your devices and restored if you change or reset your device, sign in on a new device, or reinstall the App.

For details on how we collect, use, and protect your information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

7.1 Account deletion

You may delete your account at any time through the account settings in the app. Upon deletion, all data associated with your account will be permanently removed, including your library, AI conversation history, and subscription metadata. Account deletion is irreversible. If you have an active subscription, deleting your account does not automatically cancel your App Store or Google Play subscription — you must cancel separately through your Apple ID settings (iOS) or Google Play settings (Android) to avoid further charges.

8. User content

Scott’s Guide lets you submit content, including saved bullets and custom library entries, notes and preferences, product descriptions you submit through AI Product Identification, and feedback or bug reports (together, “User Content”). As between you and us, you retain ownership of your User Content.

By submitting User Content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and display that content for the purpose of operating, maintaining, and improving Scott’s Guide. This includes incorporating product information you submit through AI Product Identification into our shared component catalog, where it may be visible to and used by other users. Except for User Content that has been incorporated into the catalog or otherwise aggregated or de-identified, this license ends when you delete the content or your account.

You represent and warrant that you own or otherwise have all rights necessary to submit your User Content and to grant the license above. You agree not to submit User Content that:

8.1 Our rights

We have no obligation to monitor User Content, but we may review, screen, edit, refuse, or remove any User Content at any time, for any reason, without notice. We may suspend or terminate your account for repeated or serious violations of this section. Removing User Content does not obligate us to retain a copy of it, and we do not endorse or guarantee the accuracy of any User Content submitted by other users.

8.2 Reporting a concern

If you believe User Content in Scott’s Guide infringes your rights or otherwise violates these Terms, contact us at info@scotts-guide.com with a description of the content, where it appears, and the basis for your concern. We will review and respond as appropriate. For copyright claims, please include the information required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3).

9. No sale of personal information

We do not sell your personal information. We may use infrastructure or service providers to help operate the App (for example, hosting, storage, and authentication services), but they process data on our behalf and under appropriate safeguards.

10. Intellectual property

Scott’s Guide, including its design, logo, text, and other content, is owned by or licensed to us and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App solely for your personal, non-commercial use.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, resell, or create derivative works from Scott’s Guide or its content, except as permitted by law or with our prior written permission.

11. Disclaimers

Scott’s Guide is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

AI DISCLAIMER: AI-generated responses, including those from the AI Load Advisor and AI Product Identification features, are produced by third-party artificial intelligence models and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or hallucinated information. You must independently verify all AI-generated load data, recommendations, and product information against manufacturer-published sources before use. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.

You use Scott’s Guide at your own risk. It is your responsibility to confirm all information against manufacturer and manual sources and to practice safe reloading and shooting at all times.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of Scott’s Guide.

Without limiting the foregoing, we are not liable for any personal injury, property damage, or other harm resulting from reloading activities, shooting, use or misuse of firearms or components, or reliance on any information displayed in the App. You assume full responsibility for your actions and decisions.

Without limiting the above, you expressly acknowledge that AI-generated content provided through the App, including load data recommendations, may be inaccurate and that we are not liable for any injury, death, property damage, or other loss resulting from reliance on AI-generated information. You assume full and sole responsibility for independently verifying all information before use.

13. Dispute resolution and binding arbitration

Please read this section carefully. It affects your legal rights, including your right to file a lawsuit in court and to have a jury trial, and it limits your ability to participate in a class action.

13.1 Informal resolution first

Before starting an arbitration, you agree to first contact us at info@scotts-guide.com with a written description of the dispute and the relief you are seeking, and to attempt in good faith to resolve it informally. If the dispute is not resolved within 60 days of that notice, either party may begin arbitration.

13.2 Agreement to arbitrate

Except as described in section 13.4, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Privacy Policy, or your use of Scott’s Guide — whether based in contract, tort, statute, fraud, or any other legal theory — will be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court.

The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, as modified by these Terms, and will be governed by the Federal Arbitration Act. The seat of the arbitration is Suffolk County, New York. You may choose to have the arbitration conducted by telephone, by video, on written submissions alone, or in person in the county where you live. The arbitrator’s decision is final and binding, and judgment on the award may be entered in any court of competent jurisdiction.

The arbitrator has exclusive authority to resolve any dispute about the interpretation, applicability, or enforceability of this arbitration agreement, except that a court — not the arbitrator — decides whether a claim falls within the small-claims exception in section 13.4 and whether the waiver in section 13.5 is enforceable.

13.3 Arbitration costs

Payment of filing, administration, and arbitrator fees is governed by the AAA Consumer Arbitration Rules. If those rules require you to pay a filing fee greater than the cost of filing suit in court, we will pay the difference. Each party is otherwise responsible for its own attorneys’ fees, unless the arbitrator awards them under applicable law.

13.4 Exceptions

This arbitration agreement does not apply to (a) claims that qualify for and are brought in small-claims court, for as long as they remain individual claims in that court, or (b) claims for injunctive or other equitable relief to stop the infringement or misuse of intellectual property. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from reporting a concern to a government agency.

13.5 No class or representative actions

You and we each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate the claims of more than one person and may award relief only in favor of the individual party seeking relief, and only to the extent necessary to provide that relief. If this paragraph is found unenforceable as to a particular claim or request for relief, that claim or request will be severed from the arbitration and heard in the courts identified in section 14, and the rest of this section 13 will remain in force.

13.6 Jury trial waiver

To the extent any dispute proceeds in court rather than in arbitration, you and we each waive any right to a trial by jury.

13.7 Your right to opt out

You may opt out of this arbitration agreement by sending written notice to info@scotts-guide.com within 30 days of the date you first accept these Terms — or, if you were already a user on August 22, 2026, within 30 days of that date. Your notice must include your name, the email address associated with your account, and a clear statement that you want to opt out of arbitration. Opting out affects only this section 13; the rest of these Terms continue to apply, and we will not close your account or treat you differently because you opted out.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs section 13. Subject to section 13 (Dispute resolution and binding arbitration), any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Scott’s Guide that proceeds in court will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts serving Suffolk County, New York, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts.

15. Changes to the App and to these Terms

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue Scott’s Guide (or any part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We may also update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Scott’s Guide after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
